AshleyGorgeViaFerrata
The Ashley Gorge Via Ferrata is one of the longest via ferratas in the western hemisphere, carved into the sandstone walls of Ashley Gorge canyon near Vernal, Utah. It features iron rungs, fixed steel cables, a dramatic suspension bridge over the river canyon, and exposed cable traverses high above the canyon floor.
Over 17,000 people climbed it in the last year — many traveling from across the country and around the world. Despite its scale and quality, it remains one of Utah's best-kept secrets.
The route is managed by Uintah County and is open to the public. No guide is required, but proper via ferrata equipment — specifically a via ferrata lanyard with an energy absorber — is mandatory for safety and route access.
